This is to inform candidates who took part in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) that the exam board has released the results Of those candidates who took part in the examinations.
This article solely aims to provide answers to some of the frequently asked questions candidates do ask whenever the results is being released.

Before I proceed, I want to inform you that the UTME results has been officially released for candidates who earlier wrote the examinations as the results are being released in phases.

How to Check UTME Result
Candidates should follow the guides below, to check UTME results.

- 2. Enter your JAMB Registration Number in the required column.
- 3. Click on ‘ Check My Results ’ .
- 4. The portal will load your result if it’s ready.
How to Check UTME Result Via SMS
Send RESULT to 55019
Your result would be sent via SMS shortly after. However, this depends on your network provider. A fee of N50 will be deducted from your balance.
Also, you can visit the Google play store and search for ‘JAMB Mobile Services e-Facility’ and download it, then install it on your phone and check your Result on the App.
The following are the responses to be expected:
- 1. If a candidate uses a phone number that was not used to register, a message will be sent to him thus: ‘This phone number was not used for registration.”
- 2. A candidate with a result will receive the message: “Dear Mr/Miss X, your result is as follows… (and the details will be provided).
- 3. If a result is withheld, a “Result Withheld” message will be sent to the candidate.
- 4. If a candidate belongs to the category being given the benefit of the doubt, the message to the person will be: “Result withheld pending the upload of clarifications/document required from you.”
- 5. If a candidate was absent, s/he would get “CANDIDATE ABSENT” as feedback
- 6. A candidate that was ABSENT WITH REGISTRATION NUMBER also CANCELLED will be so informed.
- 7. “Invalid Entrance into the Exam Hall” will be sent to a candidate who gained unauthorized access to the examination hall
Can I Access My UTME Results Online?
Candidates should visit the JAMB official website using PC or browsers with their internet-enabled phones to login to the portal, input their login details and check their UTME results.
Please note that jamb usually releases the JAMB 2022 Results in batches and those who are yet to see their results on the First Batch are advised to check here often for subsequent updates
The results will be released within 48 hours of writing the examination. Jamb releases results every day after due processes of evaluating the examinations and performances of the students has been observed
The processes of marking the examinations are automated.
The total aggregate of the examinations is 400 and it is adviseable the candidate scores above 250 for those applying for competitive courses like Medicine, Pharmacy, Law and Engineering etc.
How Long Does It Take For The UTME Results To Be Released
The board gave some reasons why the results were being delayed as it took some days before it was released.
The board noted that during the screening of the results, fraudulent practices, activities and examination misconducts were being identified in the process like multiple registrations, impersonation and the likes,
So it took the board time in trying to identify the culprits involved so proper measures could be utilized to punish the offenders.
For the benefit of those who are not well conversant with the processes involved, I will give a brief overview before I adumbrate on the application process
How to Print Original UTME Result Slip
This is to inform all the candidates that participated in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) that they can now print their original results slips online.
The original result slip is what you will need to tender during admission screening. You can do it yourself, but you will however need to make a payment of N1,000 on JAMB portal to access and print the original result slip
How it is done:
- Login to your JAMB profile through http://portal.jamb.gov.ng/efacility/Login .
- Under the list of services (on the left side of the page), click on the “Print Result Slip“
- Now click “continue with payment” to make payment via the Remita platform.
- After a successful payment, you can now proceed to printing your result slip by ‘selecting your exam year’ and entering your ‘JAMB registration Number’ in the required columns.
Note: You can request your result slip to be sent to your email or be printed directly from the portal.
Will Universities Accept Awaiting Results?
All Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education accept awaiting result once the Post UTME screening test has not been conducted i.e. before the registration portal is closed
UTME Cut-off Marks
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released cut-off points for this year’s admission into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and monotechnics..
The minimum cut off marks suggested by JAMB for admissions into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and innovation enterprise are 180, 160 and 140 respectively.
- UNIBEN, UNILAG, OAU, U.I, UNN — 200
- . All other Universities – 180
- 2. Polytechnics — 160
- . Colleges of Education — 140
About UTME 2023
The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) is a body regulated and controlled by the Federal Government of Nigeria under the delegation of the Ministry of Education and this body is responsible for conducting examinations for candidates who wish to study in tertiary-level institutions.
The board conducts entrance Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination for prospective undergraduates into Nigerian universities.
The board is also charged with the responsibility to administer similar examinations for applicants to Nigerian public and private monotechnics, polytechnics, and colleges of educations.
All of these candidates must have obtained the West Africa School Certificate, now West African Examinations Council, WAEC, or its equivalent, National Examination Council (Nigeria), NECO
