Nigerian National petroleum cooperation in line with total upstream companies in Nigeria (TUCN), Total Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited (Total E&P Nig Ltd), and Total upstream Nigeria limited (TUPNI) annually awards scholarships to Nigerian students in tertiary institution across the country whose academic performance is extremely excellent.


The main objective of this merit award by Total Scholarship scheme to students with excellent performance in their field of study is to Encourage students, Promote Academic Excellence, and quality Manpower Development in the country.

In recent years, this has been one of the media used by NNPC to contribute its quota to the Educational Development of Nigerian Students. It has also been recorded as one of NNPC’s amazing social responsibilities, and the scholarship scheme has always been a huge success yearly.

NNPC/TOTAL Scholarship Benefits


The Nigerian National petroleum cooperation scholarship scheme is a fully funded scheme for Undergraduate students in Nigeria alone. The winner will be awarded the sum of 150,000 NGN annually.

The sum of money given will cover the student tuition fee, accommodation, book allowance, and other personal or educational needs.

NNPC/TOTAL Selection Criteria

Nigeria National petroleum cooperation has developed an amazing standard that can be used to select eligible candidates.

However, as mentioned earlier, the scholarship scheme is for students in the Tertiary Institution. The scholarship is not opened to all students in the institution but to those with outstanding performance in their field of study. Below is a comprehensive list of criteria and eligibility.

  • It is required of all interested candidates to be Registered Full Time Undergraduate in any accredited Nigerian institution.
  • Candidate must be a certified 100 or 200level undergraduate student.
  • A proof of SSCE or Equivalent certificate will be required. It is expected that applicants should possess all necessary certificates in their original form.
  • A proof of Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) score will be required.
  • Applicant Admission Letter from any tertiary institution in Nigeria or Matriculation Number is part of the criteria needed.

Important Things to Take Note

  1. Students below 200 in their UTME Examination should not apply. Applicants with such scores will be ignored.
  2. 300 level students in any tertiary institution are not expected to apply. However, this opportunity is for 200level students and below.
  3. Students with less than 2.50 CGPA of a 5-point scale or equivalent should not apply.
  4. Current beneficiaries of similar award schemes from other International Oil Companies shouldn’t apply.

The scholarship application form is filled online through the official website NNPC- Total scholarship portal. For an effective online application, the applicant should endeavor to use the following internet browser such as Firefox, Chrome, and Opera Mini.

How to Apply for the NNPC/TOTAL Scholarship scheme

  • Applicant should fill in their Personal and contact Information these include; Date of birth, Permanent home address, active Email, Mobile Number, and recent passport photograph.
  • Applicant Origin, these; student State of Origin, Local Government Area. A copy of proof of applicant origin will also be uploaded. Ensure all documents are original copy
  • Applicant University Information will be requested. , these the name of institution, course, and years of study. Jamb/University Admissions Letter will be uploaded as well.
  • Applicant Result Information will be required and uploaded, this includes; SSCE Result (WAEC OR NECO), Jamb Score, and current CGPA.
  • Candidates should endeavor to go through the application form again to ensure all fields are correctly entered appropriately and all documents are uploaded.
