The Peace Corps of Nigeria was established in 1998 in Kaduna State by youth development Advocate and Strategist, Amb. (Dr) Dickson A.O. Akoh.

Peace Corps of Nigeria, which is committed to National Creativity, Peace and Youth Development which met all legal specifications and is incorporated in Nigeria under Companies and Allied Matters Act.

PCN is a member of the National Youth Council of Nigeria and has been granted a Special Consultative Status by the United Nations and Africa Union, thus an affiliate of their respective Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOC).

Furthermore, PCN is equally an affiliate of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), Global Network of Civil Society Organizations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Mission

The core mandate of the Peace Corps is to Develop; Empower and provide Gainful Employment for the Youths; to facilitate Peace; Volunteerism, Community Services; Neighbourhood Watch and Nation-building.

Developing & Empowering the Youth.Since inception, PCN has helped develop and empower young people by providing gainful employment for the youth; facilitate Peace building and Conflict prevention/Management, encouraged Volunteerism, engaged in different forms of Community Services, including Neighbourhood-Watch, and promote Nation-building.

At PCN, we believe that well-oriented young people possess the power to solve the world’s toughest problems. For 22 years, we’ve led and sustained coordinated action to harness the talent and potentials of Nigeria’s young people.
